Benches & Ottomans
Explore benches and ottomans at Sheen Interiors in Qatar for an extra seat, an end-of-bed piece or a footrest where the design supports that use. Start with the job the piece needs to do, then compare its shape, height and surface with the furniture around it.
Choosing the form for its use
A bench provides an elongated surface, which can suit a position along a wall or across the end of a bed. An ottoman is typically an upholstered piece that may function as seating or a footrest, depending on its design. The name alone does not establish how a particular piece should be used.
For sitting, consider the usable seat area and whether a backless piece suits the time you expect to spend there. For a footrest beside sofas or majlis seating, compare the height and distance with the seat. The same object can feel quite different when used to sit on or to rest your feet.
At the foot of a bed or within a seating group
An end-of-bed bench relates to the width of the bed, but it also occupies part of the route around it. Include the piece’s depth and any projecting legs when planning access to the other side of the room. A lower outline leaves more of the bed visible; a fuller upholstered form has a stronger presence.
Within a seating group, leave space to approach each seat and move around the ottoman. Decide whether the piece will stay in one position or be moved for guests, then use its stated weight and handling information rather than assuming a small piece is easy to lift.
A soft surface or a table?
Upholstery adds texture and a different surface feel from a hard tabletop. A deeply shaped or cushioned top may be useful for its intended seating role but awkward for balancing objects. If your main need is a firm surface for shared drinks or display, compare coffee tables. Tray use depends on the selected ottoman and tray rather than being a feature of every upholstered piece.
Consider the upholstery and exposed base together. A narrow frame leaves more floor visible, while a body extending close to the floor looks more substantial. Choose the actual material and finish through the product details.
When storage is part of the design
For a product specified with storage, compare the usable interior with what you want to put away. The outside dimensions do not show how much space remains inside. Also allow room to open it in the position where it will stand; storage is less useful if nearby furniture has to move every time.
Check intended uses, dimensions and included pieces on the product page, then order the bench or ottoman that suits the arrangement.
