Custom wood furniture, joinery and carved details
Sheen Carving is the specialist woodwork house within Sheen Interiors, creating made-to-order furniture, fitted joinery, cabinetry and decorative woodwork in Qatar. Solid wood and engineered wood both form part of its core offer, with construction and detailing chosen to suit the design and intended use.
The house undertakes standalone commissions and contributes specialist woodwork to interiors led by Sheen Studio.

Custom wood furniture
Carving makes solid-wood furniture as well as pieces using engineered wood and mixed-material construction. Meranti, Beech and Ash are examples of woods worked with; the choice depends on the design and intended use.
The proportions of a console, table or chair affect both its appearance and how it is used. The depth of a top, the width of a frame and the position of a base influence the space around and beneath the piece.
A commission can be for a complete piece or for a woodwork contribution to furniture that also includes stone, glass or upholstery.
Fitted joinery and cabinetry
Fitted cupboards, kitchens, shelving and wall cabinetry bring storage into the arrangement of a room. Engineered woods and boards are central to this work, alongside solid-wood components where the design calls for them. The application alone does not determine the material.
What needs to be stored shapes the internal arrangement: frequently used items need a convenient position, while open shelves and enclosed compartments serve different purposes. Door and drawer movement must also work with nearby furniture and circulation.
Fit continues beyond the cabinet itself. Wall dimensions, adjoining worktops, end panels and other fitted elements affect the junctions. Access, assembly and installation requirements form part of the agreed scope, particularly where the work must meet existing surfaces.
CNC design, cutting and pattern work
Carving accommodates original pattern development, adaptation of customer references and execution of supplied designs.
CNC work translates the intended geometry into cut profiles, engraved lines and patterned components. The outline of a piece, the spacing of repeated features and the alignment of a pattern across adjoining parts all affect the finished result. A motif that works on a small furniture front may need a different scale or layout across a larger panel.
Carving and decorative detail
Decorative carving gives depth and emphasis to the finished work. A border can define an edge, while a floral motif or patterned surface can become the focus of a furniture front. The amount and placement of detail should relate to the proportions of the piece.
Carving uses both CNC-assisted work and hand-carved detailing, selected according to project requirements. Traditional and period-inspired vanities, chairs, bed headboards and tables are part of this territory, alongside floral and patterned cupboard designs.
Cutting establishes an outline or opening; carving develops detail within the surface. The methods can overlap, including CNC-assisted relief and 3D engraving. The choice follows the intended detail and construction of the piece.
Materials and construction
A wooden piece brings together visible faces, underlying construction, exposed edges and connections. These parts can have different roles: a broad surface establishes the main appearance, while an edge or joint reveals how the components meet.
Solid wood and engineered wood are both core construction choices. The shape, intended use and required detail help determine where each is appropriate; one commission may combine them.
An appearance preference and a construction choice are separate decisions. Specifying the visible surface together with the material beneath it makes clear both the intended look and how the piece is built.
Finishes and final detailing
Colour, visible grain and sheen influence how a piece is read. A finish can give greater prominence to the grain or make colour the stronger part of the design; its sheen changes how light picks out a broad face or carved detail.
When choosing a finish reference, identify the quality you want to carry into the piece: colour, grain visibility, sheen or texture. Consider it across the whole form and at close range, including how carved patterns end at borders and how exposed edges are finished. The suitable treatment depends on the material surface and detailing.
