Polaris Marble
White-Grey Marble from Greece
Polaris Marble combines a pale white-grey background with scattered darker-grey markings and soft grey shading. The grey details give the light surface a mottled character rather than an even, flat colour. The Polaris supplied by Sheen Sculpture comes from Greece.
Sheen Sculpture welcomes Polaris enquiries for furniture, floor tiling, wall cladding and multimedia walls. Its use in Nova furniture shows how the polished stone works across broad tops and curved, fluted forms.
Colour and Markings in Your Room
Polaris brings grey detail into an otherwise pale surface. Beside a plain white cabinet or wall, those markings become part of the contrast; beside patterned upholstery or flooring, consider how the two patterns sit together. Compare the actual adjoining finishes rather than relying on separate photographs.
Natural variation in tone and grey markings is inherent to Polaris Marble. Each piece is unique. Decide whether that variation is part of the look you want, particularly across a large surface where changes between pieces will be more visible.

Choosing Polaris for the Intended Surface
The scale of the stone changes what you can judge. A small sample helps you compare colour, while a larger view reveals how the grey markings are distributed.
- A broad surface: look at the balance of lighter areas and darker marks across the whole piece, rather than choosing from one appealing detail.
- Adjoining pieces: consider their tonal variation together. The same material name does not mean every tile, panel or furniture component will have identical markings.
- Everyday use: weigh the appearance against the care the surface will need. A table used for meals brings different spill exposure from a wall, while floors also need regular removal of abrasive grit.
For a commissioned piece or fitted surface, explore marble and natural stonework to understand how the selected stone becomes part of the finished work.

Polished Polaris and Reflected Light
The polished Polaris used in Nova furniture has a glossy surface that catches reflections from windows and lights. Its grey markings remain part of the stone itself; the reflections change with the light and viewing angle. Consider both when judging how prominent the surface will feel in a room.
Polished marble can also make dull etch marks more noticeable. For flooring, the finish needs assessment for the location and use as well as its appearance. A preference for gloss alone is not enough to settle that choice.
Staining, Etching and Sealing
Marble care involves two different risks. A stain is discolouration caused by a substance entering the stone. Acid etching changes the surface and can leave a dull mark, even without a coloured stain. Acidic cleaners are therefore a concern on walls and floors as well as on furniture.
An impregnating sealer can reduce absorption and staining, but it does not prevent acid etching or make marble stain-proof. Whether sealing is needed, and when it should be renewed, depends on the stone, treatment and use. Follow the care specification for the finished surface rather than assuming an annual treatment is always required.
Everyday Care for Marble Surfaces
- Remove loose dust and grit regularly, especially from floors, using a soft cloth or a clean, non-treated dry dust mop.
- Blot spills promptly rather than spreading them across the surface.
- Clean with a neutral cleaner intended for natural stone, following its directions. Rinse away residue and dry with a soft cloth.
- Avoid vinegar, lemon-based cleaners and abrasive scouring products.
- On furniture, use coasters beneath drinks and protective mats or trivets beneath hot dishes.
For furniture combining marble with wood or veneer, apply this stone-care guidance only to the marble surfaces. If a dull patch remains after cleaning, seek advice from a stone-care professional before attempting a repair.
