Tundra Grey Marble
Grey Tone and Natural Variation
Tundra Grey Marble from Turkey has a grey colour that can read as pale or silver-grey. Natural changes in tone give the surface depth rather than the uniformity of a painted grey.
Its overall tone is a useful starting point for selection. Small variations become part of a larger field of colour, so the amount of grey visible in the finished design matters as well as the detail within it.

How the Finish Changes the View
Sheen offers Tundra Grey polished and honed. The finish changes the way light appears on the face, while the stone's natural variation remains.
| Finish | Appearance and selection |
|---|---|
| Polished | A reflective sheen brings windows and light sources into the surface. Consider their position if the marble will face a large window or sit beneath direct lighting. |
| Honed | A softer sheen reduces the prominence of sharp reflections. Compare it with nearby matt and glossy finishes to decide how much contrast the stone surface should introduce. |
Other finishes can be requested where appropriate to Tundra Grey and the intended application. Surface sheen alone does not establish slip resistance or suitability for a wet setting.
Choosing a Grey Stone Surface
A Top Within the Room
A grey furniture top can connect with surrounding neutrals or contrast with a lighter base. Consider its tone beside the nearest material: two greys that seem similar separately may look different when they meet.
China Grey Marble provides another grey stone to compare by its actual tone and markings, rather than by the colour name alone.
A Larger Area of Grey
A wall or proposed floor makes grey part of the room's background. The balance with lighter walls, furniture and openings becomes more important than matching every nearby object. Decide whether the stone should recede within that palette or remain a noticeable contrast.
A floor also needs to be selected for its traffic, cleaning and installation conditions. For commissioned surfaces, explore marble and natural stonework.
Cleaning Without Dulling the Finish
Remove grit before cleaning and use a soft cloth or mop with a neutral stone cleaner. Blot spills promptly, and lift objects rather than dragging them across a top. These habits protect the surface from avoidable abrasion regardless of the chosen sheen.
Acidic cleaners and spills can etch marble, changing the finish even where there is little visible staining. A sealer may be appropriate to the selected stone and use, but it does not prevent acid etching. Avoid treating a change in sheen as a stain to scrub with an abrasive cleaner.
